Plan a mid-week getaway to Nantucket this spring. With daffodils blooming and some of our favorite festivals happening, April and May promise plenty of fun before summer moves into high gear. Shopkeepers on Main Street buzz with activity, and gardeners delight in watching their gardens awaken. Take a solitary walk on any of our lovely beaches, pedal for miles on our bike paths, and dine leisurely at dozens of local restaurants. There’s so much to see and do on this island paradise; you may need several days to explore it all.
Spring Festivals
Some of our favorite festivals of the year happen in spring. The annual Nantucket Daffodil Festival brings thousands to the island at the end of April. In every garden blooming wildly in the moors, sunny yellow daffodils color the island as the warm weather returns. The festival features a flower show, antique car parade, and tailgate extravaganza; the humble daffodil is the show’s star.
Second to none, the Nantucket Wine and Food Festival begins midweek in mid-May. With Nantucket’s reputation as a spectacular culinary destination, the event features vintners and chefs from around the globe. Enjoy tastings, food pairings, luncheons, and seminars; this 4-day event is perhaps the most prestigious of the year on Nantucket.
Explore the Island
This charming island attracts visitors year-round; spring is one of the most delightful times. Unique shops and galleries line the cobbled main streets of Nantucket Town. Bike paths and nature trails wind through the moors and marshes. Wide, sandy beaches stretch for miles all around the island.
Once known as “the whaling capital of the world,” Nantucket’s Whaling Museum is a must-see at any time of year. Sankaty Head Light and the rose-covered cottages of Siasconset charm visitors who head out to the east end of the island. A Bevy of Dining Choices
No matter what you’re in the mood for, Nantucket has a bevy of restaurants to suit your taste buds. Intimate cafés and bistros, fine dining establishments, seafood shacks, and pizza joints compete for your attention during your visit. Many of our favorite spots to dine have been serving delicious dishes for years here on the island, but every season brings a new eatery to the party to add to the array of culinary offerings.
Fresh Seafood Always Available
Unsurprisingly, an island 30 miles out to sea and surrounded by the ocean would excel at serving the freshest seafood around. Dine in the lush ambiance of the White Elephant near Brant Point Lighthouse or cozy up at a Nantucket landmark on Straight Wharf that has been serving delicious fare for six decades. Several seafood restaurants remain open year-round regardless of the season you visit us.
