National Geographic recently recognized Nantucket Island as having among the best beaches in the world, under their “Top Ten” travel section. The spotlight mentions Surfside as a favorite South shore public beach with waves to enjoy, due to it’s exposure to the Atlantic ocean, and plenty of sand for sunbathing and castle building.
A North shore favorite is Jetties beach which offers many service conveniences and calm, warm waters during the Summer. As seen from this aerial view, the remote yet beautiful North shore barrier beaches of Coatue are very alluring and Quidnet beach on the East shore offers solitude and views of Sankaty Head lighthouse.
Maybe our favorite is Ladies beach though, just beyond the Bartlett Farm market which is the perfect place to pick up a your beach picnic and find a secluded spot to relax for the day – don’t forget to bring along your Summer book and escape!
