It’s time to turn our attention to all the fantastic Nantucket fall events planned to ease us gently into the quiet season on the island. While temps stay warm well into late September and early October, the beach scene slowly fades into the distance and the hub of activity centers around fun and entertaining activities indoors and out.

Food and drink feature prominently at most fall happenings, celebrating fresh seafood and local chefs. Book your stay at our charming bed and breakfast in the heart of Nantucket town and join the fun at any (or all) of these annual events.

Nantucket Project (September 26-29, 2024)

A gathering of 600+ doers, thinkers, and influencers under a tent on Nantucket Harbor, the Nantucket Project returns this year to explore topics vital to the health of the nation. This year’s program focuses on “out of many, one.” The weekend promises fascinating conversations, live talks, and original films. Join like-minded individuals for a weekend of thought-provoking ideas and inspiration.

Nantucket Fall Restaurant Week (October 2024)

Nantucket Restaurant Week, held each spring and fall, is your opportunity to sample some of the island’s most notable culinary creations by local chefs. Participating restaurants typically offer 3-course meals for a prix fixe price between $25 and $50 per person. Take this opportunity to try a new restaurant or return to the ones you love best. The food scene on Nantucket is ever-evolving and a significant link to its growing reputation as an acclaimed culinary destination.

Nantucket Scallopers Ball (October 4, 2024)

On Nantucket, we like to celebrate the opening of the scalloping season with a party. The Nantucket Scallopers Ball, sponsored by the Nantucket Shellfish Association, brings together friends and family for a night of fresh seafood, music, and dancing. A silent auction is one of the highlights of the evening, so get ready to bid on your favorite items. Get your tickets early for this well-loved island event.

Cranberries and Cobblestones (October 11-14, 2024)

Sponsored by the Nantucket Chamber of Commerce, the 5th annual Cranberries and Cobblestones Weekend will be bigger and better than ever. “Home for the Harvest” is the theme for the Storefront Competition this year, and you can bet that shopkeepers will go all out to grab your attention. To participate, shoppers simply collect stickers from participating stores for every item purchased over $5.00. The more you shop, the better your chances of winning. Get a jump on your holiday shopping this year.

Thanksgiving & the Cold Turkey Plunge (November 28, 2024)

Brave the ice-cold waters of Nantucket Harbor off Children’s Beach on Thanksgiving morning for an Arctic awakening to your holiday festivities. Join hundreds of brave souls who take the plunge, nicknamed “freezing for a reason,” at 10:00 AM. Register online. Proceeds benefit the Weezie Library for Children.

Though these are only a few of the wonderful fall events on Nantucket, they are among the most anticipated. Join us this year as we celebrate autumn on our island paradise.
